The School Pantry is all about finding ways to feed families. Selected schools where high populations of children receive assistance through the school lunch program host a monthly distribution of nutritious foods. By expanding our distribution to include enough food to provide several meals, extend family food budgets, and encourage healthy eating habits, the School Pantry takes a long-range approach to feeding every member of growing families.
From its modest beginning in 2010 with a single location serving about 1,265 individuals a little over 15,000 pounds of food, we have expanded to ambitious goals in 2012: the establishment of at least 3 independent sites spread out among our service area, reaching 570 households with over 2,000 pounds of food.
